Unique Cultural Event
KUTZTOWN (Berks Co.) On
March 29-30 regional crafts guilds
of the Reading Berks and the Le
high Valley Guilds of Craftsmen,
have partnered with The Heritage
Center at Kutztown University to
bring a two-day long crafts and cul
tural event to the area.
Featured at this show will be the
work of more than 100 of the area’s
finest professional craftsmen, as
well as the latest craft creations
from students in Kutztown Univer
sity’s Craft Department. Kutztown
University Crafts Department pro
fessors will have an exhibit featur
ing their own works. Most of the
fine handcrafted items at this annu
al event will be available for pur
chase. Many of the featured crafts
men will be demonstrating their
unique techniques in making their
craftwork. The work to be seen at
this craft show will include a wide
variety of works, ranging from his
torically accurate reproductions of
Pennsylvania German crafts up to
Lancaster Farming, Saturday, March 22, 2003-829
ready scheduled Heritage Day activities,
which will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hearth cooking and quilting demonstra
tions and antique exhibits are some of
the other activities available to visitors
that day.
Advance registration is required for
appraisals. Museum staff will assign
numbers on a limited first-come, first
served basis. The fee for the first item’s
verbal appraisal is $lO. and $5 will be
charged for two additional items. Up to
three items for each number assignment
will be accepted.

spected speaker on topics associated
with the professional crafts indus
try, will provide educational work
shop sessions throughout both days
of the show. These topics will in
clude marketing your products and
yourself, booth presentation, the
slide and jury processes, and more
sessions aimed to interest the pro
fessional or aspiring artist or crafts
man.
The dates for the First Annual
Spring Fine Arts and Crafts Festi
val at Kutztown University are
March 29-30 from 9 a.m. until 5
p.m. on Saturday, the 29th, and 10
a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, the
30th. The location will be at the
Kutztown University Fieldhouse.
