breeze, even in a breeze, thanks
to the angled hinges that use the
side doors’ own weight to help
keep them open. Should the
breeze pick up, a handy lock rod
keeps the door from blowing
shut during servicing. Belts are
now easier to service as well,
thanks to the new alligator rivet
style lacing which allows repairs
to be made in the field.
Other new features, such as
the windguard and pickup
flares, are designed to reduce the
wind’s affect on operation and
improve material feed into the
baler. The rear pivoting wind
guard can be easily adjusted up
or down according to crop
height. Windguard tines move
the crop smoothly up and into
the baler, controlling it up to the
time it is rolled onto the bale.
“We also added side panels

cal functions for Kubota and its
dealers.
Even more important is the
ability to support anticipated
sales growth and service to our
dealers through increased as

ity,” said Nobu Toshikuni,
President, Kubota Tractor Cor
poration.
The latest concepts in assem
bly line management will be in
place when operations begin
early next year. Concentration
will be on the assembly of M-
Series tractors and tractor/
loadcr/backhoes. An important
plus for Kubota dealers will be
the ability to order M-Scries
with the loader installed. This
will enable faster delivery of the
product to the customer, and
save time and labor in the deal-
sales manager and western re
gional manager and brings with
him a wealth of knowledge gath

Productivity Grows With Case IH SDX4O
RACINE, Wis. Borrowing
from the same proven design as
the popular Case IH SDX3O
single disk no-till air drill, the
SDX4O offers large producers in
high-residue conditions in
creased productivity with the
same reliability. Add to that, the
ability to deliver more precise
seed placement and depth con
trol, and the Case IH SDX4O
drill is positioned to be the new
leader in precision seeding
equipment.
“We are the first in the indus
try to offer flexible rank down
pressure adjustments for
optimum seed placement,” says
Jacky Payne, marketing train
ing manager for Case IH seeders
and chisel plows. “The operator
can adjust the down pressure to
each rank independently for
varied depth applications, or,
you could completely lock up a
rank to change row spacing and
configurations, to match your
specifications.”
The Case IH single disk no
till opener featured on the
SDX4O is the best in its class for
depth control accuracy, seed
placement consistency, and low
furrow sidewall compaction.
Seeding depth adjustments
are made easily and safely from
either the front or back of the
machine without any tools.
Simply move the depth handle
to the desired setting seed, from
zero to 3.5 inches. Depth adjust
ments can be made in as little as
quarter-inch increments, espe
cially helpful for small-seeded
crops like grass and canola.
Down pressure can be adjusted
from 250 to 510 pounds per
opener.

ility
“In high residue conditions.
Case IH SDX drills cut through
residue and leave a clean furrow
for superior seed-to-soil contact
and improved germination,”
says Payne. “We use the indus
try’s largest diameter disk at
22.5 inches positioned at a 5-
degree compound angle to cut
through residue, rather than
push it, and wc employ the
proven Early Riser gauge wheel
found on Case IH planters to
hold moist soil in reserve.”

The Kubota Technical &
Marketing Center (KTMC) will
be comprised of offices within
the Assembly facility and a 32-
acre site for testing and develop
ment of products. Initially,
KTMC will concentrate on
products for residential and
commercial grounds care cus
tomers.
With the Oakwood addition,
Georgia will host the majority ot
Kubota’s manutacturing and as
sembly business in the United
States. Kubota Manufacturing
of America (KMA) is located in
Gainesville and manufactures
and assembles Kubota equip
ment, including loaders and
backhoes, lawn and garden trac
tors, sub-compact tractors, and
zero turn mowers. Kubota’s
Southeast Division in Suwanee
serves dealers in 11 states and
has a parts and whole goods
warehouse, m addition to fi
nance, sales, service, and distri
bution functions.
The Western Division Assem
bly Department in Stockton,
California will continue to as
semble M Series and tractor/
loader/backhoes for the dealers
in the 11 Western states. The
new Oakwood plant will serve
the balance of Kubota’s dealers
in the United States.

resistant steel scraper, a narrow
1.25-inch seed furrow is formed.
A narrow furrow means less soil
and residue movement and re
duced sidewall compaction.
Each seed is placed on a “shelf’
created by the scraper. This
“seed shelf” has less foreign ma
terial (soil particles, residue,
etc.) than the bottom of the
furrow created by the disc. Also,
because of the way the scraper
opens the slot, the “seed shelf’
has minimal sidewall compac
tion, meaning the germinating
seed’s tap root meets little resist
ance penetrating the soil. This
allows the SDX opener to main
