ANSWER - Lydia Nolt wanted to know where to find old-fashioned red beet seeds. Thanks to Dave Hake for writing that Lydia is possibly referring to what is known as “Lutz’ Greenleaf” or as the “Win terkeeper” red beets. If harvested about 55-60 days, it will produce a beet of normal size. If allowed to remain in the ground for about 80 days, and has been thinned to allow growth, it will produce a hugh red beet, which is still very tender, sweet, and dark red.
