He was born on March 21, 1685, in Germany. He created many musical works both tor church and for everyday. His church music is still used in some churches. Bach was born into a family of musicians His parents died when he was nine years old. He then went to live with his brother, an organist, and learned to play and write his own music In 1703, at the age of about 18, Bach accepted a job in an orchestra Six months later, he became a church organist.
