NATIONAL SLAUGHTER CAT
TLE SUMMARY - Week Ending Feb.
14, 2003 - Slaughter cattle trade limited
to mostly the north with dressed sales
4.00-6.00 lower for the week. Very light
trade in the south 2.00-4.00 lower. Mixed
ideas occurred this week as feedlots are
in a period of tight supplies. Bargaining
for more money especially tough as feed
lots were faced with severe downward
pressure in the trading pits at the Merc.
Boxed beef prices on Friday at 123.98
down 1.06 for the week. Sales of slaugh
ter cattle on a national basis for negotiat
ed cash trades totaled a minimum
110,500 through 10:00 a.m. Friday. Last
week's full count was 167,500.
