breasts and wings, and about steady on
the balance.

Mostly prices were higher on whites,
unchanged to higher on whole, but lower
on yolks when compared to previous
week’s trading. The market tone was gen
erally firm on whites, mixed on whole and
unsettled on yolks. Overall, demand im
proved but was still in a range of light to
moderate. Supplies were balanced to ade
quate for current trade needs. Liquid and
frozen eggs (ingredients included) pro
cessed under federal inspection in the
Eastern region for the week ending Feb
ruary 01, 2003 were 8 % more than the
previous week, but 3 % lower than a year
ago.

week ending Feb. 14 will decrease by 3
percent. Present week purchases for the
week ending Feb. 7 were 243,758 cases
which was 10 percent above the prior
week and 12 percent above estimates.
CASES PURCHASED: CARTONED:
208,643 up 12%; LOOSE: 35,115
down 4%; TOTAL: 243,758 up 10%.
Comparison figures are compiled on a
matched plant basis. Purchases and esti

erate. The New York shell egg inventory
decreased 11%, however the New Jersey
shell egg inventory increased 1% when
compared to last Monday. Supplies were
sufficient for needs.

Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds
were moderate and clearing the market at
a reasonable rate. Demand was moderate
with buyer interest and trading. Live sup
plies were moderate to heavy for the mar
ket being reported with an estimated
slaughter of 1,329,000 compared to
1,282,000 last Tuesday. Weights were de
sirable. Processing schedules were moder
ate. Actual slaughter for the week of Feb
03 - Feb 08 was 6,351,174 head with an
average weight of 4.82.
Negotiated F. 0.8. dock prices, 2
pounds and heavier ice-packed broilers
and fryers, trucklot sales of US Grade A
or equivalent were steady at .55 -
.65 per pound; less than trucklot
sales .54 - .69 per pound.

today’s activity held to standing commit
ments. Seller offerings were fully ade
quate to ample and were more readily
available on the 3.0 and 3.5 pound sizes.
Live supplies were moderate; weights
were in a full range of light to heavy. Pro
cessing schedules were moderate to mod
erately heavy. Less than trucklot asking
prices were unchanged at 56 to 66 cents.
Trade sentiment was barely steady. Bone
less skinless breasts were clearing satisfac
torily. Bone-in breasts were a bit of a push
to clear. Leg quarters and wings fully ade
quate to ample.
