Layer Cage System
Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds
and parts was light and unaggressive, typ
ical for mid-week, but disappointing for
the first part of the month. Seller offer
ings on whole birds continued to vary by
size, and were fully sufficient for current
inquiry. Live supplies were moderate;
weights were in a full range of light to
heavy. Processor schedules were moderate
to moderately heavy. Less than trucklot
asking prices were unchanged at 56 to 66
cents. Trade sentiment was barely steady
to steady. In the parts complex, all cuts
were at least adequate for immediate
needs.

Feedstuff prices were mixed again this
week. Trading was moderate with some
ingredients being substituted with cheap
er feed. Hominy was slightly higher on
tight supplies. Distiller grains in Illinois
were mostly steady, while in Minneapolis
slightly higher. Warm weather across the
U.S. did not help in the consumption of
many ingredients.
SOYBEAN MEAL: 48 percent rail was
steady from 172.50-173.50. 48 percent
truck was steady to 1.00 higher from
175.50-181.50 per ton.
CORN BY-PRODUCTS: Gluten Feed
21 percent, Interior Points was 1.00-2.00
lower from 62.00-70.00; Chicago was
steady to 1.00 lower from 62.00-72.00. 60
percent Gluten Meal, Interior Points was
steady from 230.00-248.00; Chicago
steady to 3.00 higher from 237.00-245.00
per ton. Rail Hominy Feed, Central Illi
