Mostly prices were unchanged to high
er on whole, unchanged on whites and
salt yolk, but unchanged to lower on
sugar yolks when compared to previous
week’s trading. The market tone was
mixed as sellers evaluate raw costs. De
mand ranged light to moderate. Supplies
were not as available but generally ade
quate for current trade needs. Liquid and
frozen eggs (ingredients included) pro
cessed under federal inspection in the
Eastern region for the week ending Janu
ary 18, 2003 were 2% less than the previ
ous week, but 6% higher than a year ago.

Less than trucklot asking prices were un
changed at 56 to 66 cents. Trade senti
ment was no better than steady. In the
parts complex, additional buying interest
had slowed. Breast cuts continued to clear
well at some but not all plants. Leg quar
ters were adequate and clearing satisfac
torily. Wings were readily available at
some points.

Prices were unchanged but trending
sharply lower on all sizes. The market
tone was weak and unsettled. Demand
declined in some areas and ranged mostly
light to mdoerate. Supplies of all sizes
were available. Breaking stock offerings
were short to balanced for the light to
moderate demand. Light type hens were
fully adequate for slaughter requirements.

The undertone on tom breast meat was
steady to instances weak. Increased inter
est was noted on large packages of fresh
and frozen tom breast breast at lower
trending price levels. The undertone was
mixed on des trapped tenderloins with
some industry members note increased of
fers at lower trending prices while others
note increased activity at current prices.
The undertone on wing meat was mixed
with fresh starting to show signs of in
creased strength while offerings of frozen
continued available with some having
age. The undertone on scapula and breast
trim was barely steady at best. The thigh
meat undertone was mostly steady to
barely steady. Increased interest was
noted on thigh meat at the lower trending
price levels with some buyers more con
cerned with price than age of product.
Domestic trading light Some breeder
drums traded at 13.50, tails 17, and fresh
wing meat 49 cents delivered domestic.
Export trading was heavy and centered
on heavy volumes of firm priced frozen
thigh meat and open priced fresh tom
drums, light to fair volumes of open
priced thigh meat and mechanically sepa
rated turkey for February shipments, and
light volumes of hen necks 12.50, ground
drum meat 45 and tom defatted gizzards
52 cents delivered.
