NATIONAL YOUNG TURKEY
PARTS AND BULK MEAT, Frozen, un
less specified, cents per lb, delivered first
receivers, part and full trucklots, as of
Jan. 22.
The market continued slow due in part
to a major poultry convention occurring
in Atlanta, Georgia. The trade sentiment
on tom bulk parts was steady to weak
with most offerings exceeding the limited
buyer interest. Domestic trading centered
on a heavy volume of Grade A 4-8 lb
breasts 93 cents delivered January - De
cember, 2003, balance light at best. Ex
port activity to Mexico showed signs of
improvement after an agreement with
Mexico on Newcastle restrictions oc
curred. However, some industry members
still note some problems crossing the bor
der into Mexico. Trading into export
channels centered on some fresh mechan
ically separated turkey (MST) at 16, a fair
volume of fresh tom drums at 18 cents de
livered, a moderate volume of MST and a
heavy volume of thigh meat.
