KET: Majority of prices trended slightly
higher on light canners; unchanged on
heavies due to very light movement. De
mand was in a full range and trading was
extremely limited on heavy canners. Sup
plies and offerings were in close balance
to short and well cleared. The undertone
was at least steady on lights; generally
steady on heaviers.

and catering businesses were fair at best.
Supplies of larger sized product were
more available, but clearing, and smaller
sizes were better balanced to close. In the
parts structure, wings had the strongest
movement with inventories barely ade
quate to tight. Breast items and dark
meat were at least sufficient with mixed
interest. In production areas, live supplies
were moderate at mixed, but mostly desir
able weights.
The 12-City Weighted Average Price
for 01/06/03 was 61.08, compared to 58.22
last week, and 56.85 a year ago.

Prices were unchanged in all regions.
The market tone was about steady to
steady in the Northeast, but steady to
fully steady in other areas. Demand was
light to good, best where features were a
factor. Supplies were adequate to avail
able for trade requirements. The National
Shell Egg inventory was 1% higher than
the previous week. Breaking stock offer
ings were about adequate to available for
the light demand. Light type hens were at
least sufficient for the no better than fair
demand.
