Compared to last Monday, barrows
and gilts sold firm to .50 higher; with in
stances of 1.00 higher. The sale kicked off
with several hogs weighing from 280-350
lbs; with demand remaining pretty good
for the heavier types. When the fancier
straight hogs finally started rattling the
gates buyers got what they came for as
several lots drew active bidding. Early
trading at the Western terminal markets
has 220-270 lb barrows and gilts trading
from 31.00-34.00. PERCENT LEAN

Compared to last week's light run,
slaughter pigs sold sharply higher in an
other light test. Slaughter demand was
very good, as nearly 100 percent of the
run went to the kill floor. Bidding was ac
tive as well as the light numbers had buy
ers aggressively trying to procure what
they could. All pigs were weighed and
graded on arrival and sold by the hun
dred weights.
