National Slaughter Cattle Review as of
11 a.m.: Demand for slaughter cattle was
extremely good Tuesday afternoon
through Wednesday morning as buyers
with more money in hand than last week
aggressively sought to procure cattle.
Trade activity was moderate to active.
Compared to last week, live sales ranged
from 77.00 to 78.00, trending 2.00 to 3.00
higher and dressed prices were at mostly
122.00 which was 3.00 to 5.00 higher than
last week.

Hog slaughter under federal inspection
on Tuesday was estimated at 388,000
head compared to 346,000 a week ago
and 380,000 a year ago. Week to date
773,000 head compared to 740,000 a week
ago and 759,000 a year ago.

totaled 202,550 through 10:00 a.m. Fri
day. Last week’s full count was 170,400.
Weekly Meat Production Under Federal Inspection
WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 3 - (USDA-NASS) - Total red meat
production under federal inspection for the week ending Saturday, Jan. 4,
was estimated at 778.3 million lbs., according to the USDA's
Agricultural Marketing Service. This was 7.9% higher than a week ago
and 3.8% higher than a year ago.
