Trucklot buying activity was mostly
fair as dealers attempted to enter the holi
day with closely cleared floor stocks. Of
ferings of breast items were sufficient.
Dark meat cuts were at least adequate.
Wings were no more than adequate to
tight. Retail and distributive movement
was fair. The market tone was fully
steady to firm on wings and about steady
on the balance.

Mostly prices were unchanged on
whites, unchanged to lower on whole, and
lower on yolks when compared to previ
ous week’s trading. The market tone was
generally steady on whites, no better than
about steady to weak on whole, and un
settled to weak on yolks. Demand and
trading was light and often reported as
quiet. Supplies were adequate to fully
adequate for current trade, requirements.
Liquid and frozen eggs (ingredients in
cluded) processed under federal inspec
tion in the Eastern region for the week
ending December 21, 2002 were 1% less
than the previous week, and unchanged
when compared to a year ago.

Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds
was mostly fair to moderate and sufficient
in keeping available offerings in good bal
ance to short of immediate needs. Live
supplies were about moderate; weights
varied in a full range of light to heavy.
Processor schedules were very light as
most plants worked reduced schedules.
Less than trucklot asking prices were 1
cent higher at 57 to 68 cents. Trade senti
ment was firm. In the parts complex,
wings were in close balance to tight and
well cleared. Dark meat items were at
least adequate. Other items were general
ly noted as in close balance
