Mainland 4-H
Equestrian Club
The Mainland 4-H Equestrian
Club recently met to discuss up
coming events in 4-H, including
Horse Bowl, a game similar to
Jeopardy, the 4-H Awards Night,
and the club’s new service proj
ect.
Club members will work on
Saturdays at a therapeutic riding
stable called Special Equestrians.
The club staged a “Friday
Night Frolic” in early November.
Members played games in the
gym, and listened to the White
family speak about the new
model horse club, called the Tiny
Trotters. The members then held
a model horse gymkhana.
The Montgomery County 4-H
Equine Awards Night took place
Nov. 16 at the Shriner’s Lu Lu
Center. Every member of 4-H in
Montgomery County recehed an
award listing their points won
from this year’s show season.
Amanda Lea Hoade won the
Versatility Award for her work
with training her own pony to
harness and two donkeys for
ground manners. Abby Hochman
won awards for participating on
the Junior Hippology team and
attending the Agriculture Pro
gress Day Skillathon.
Rough Riders 4-H
Horse Club
The Rough Riders Club will
hold its re-organizational meeting
on Thursday, Jan. 2 at the Zion
United Church of Christ, Winter

Bi-County Cabbits Club
Hosts First Show
The Northampton County 4-H
and Lehigh County 4-H Rabbit
and Cavy Clubs have joined to
gether and created the Bi-County
Cabbits Rabbit and Cavy Club.
Saturday, Nov. 2 the Bi-Coun
ty Cabbits sponsored its first an
nual Rabbit and Cavy Show,
which took place at the Macungie
Memorial Park in Macungie.
With the show beginning at
nine, rabbits and cavies began to
arrive by the hundreds. There
were approximately 600 entries
in the show.
Participants came from all
across Pennsylvania, and many
other states.
Participants were entered in
the following shows: youth, Hol
land lop specialty, Dutch special
ty, mini rex specialty, mini lop
specialty, and pet class.
4-H members from both clubs
came to help set up on Friday
night, and families got involved
on Saturday to make the show
even more successful.
The judges were Peg Hailey.
Wendy Feaga, Frank Delmastro
and Bonnie Burdick. The show
was a huge success, and they look
forward to a great show next
year.
Slate 4-H Horse Show
Winners In
Northampton County
Northampton County 4-H
horse members received numer
ous awards at the 43rd annual
State 4-H Horse Show.
First place county winners in
4-H performance classes were:
Hunter seat equitation, junior-
Hayley Willever, Pen Argyl;
Hunter under saddle horses, sen
ior-Sarah Whitley, Bangor.
In 4-H horse production class
es, members breed and raise their
own project animal. Local win
ners were; Erica Crump of Beth
lehem, Katelynn Ring of North
ampton, Allyse Van Zee of
Lehighton, Lauren Radvansky of
Schnecksville, Bonnie Gallagher
of Bethlehem, Kathleen Black of
Bethlehem, Emily Maruschak of
Bethlehem, and Katie Marra of
Easton.

tional technical college or a

program is for individuals who
have completed their freshman,

Northampton County 4-H
members. Joel Geiger and Nicole
Kondziela, have been awarded
the national I Dare You Leader
ship Award in recognition of per
sonal integrity, balanced living
and potential for leadership. The
honor was presented by Janice
Martin at their award ceremonies
conducted at Blue Valley Farm
Show Building, Nov. 24.
Cumberland County 4-H
Thanks Club Supporters
The Cumberland County 4-H
club met to write thank you notes
to all the people and businesses
that supported our club in the
past year. Some activities that
were sponsored by people were
the roundup and some contests
that took place throughout the
year.
President Brian Nailor called
the meeting to order at the Sec
ond Presbyterian Church in Car
lisle. Janel Zinn and Abby Haris
led in the Pledge of Allegiance
and Tori Fuller took roll call. A
new member, Kyle Yorlets, was
welcomed into the club. The min
utes were approved as read.
Under old business, Tori Fuller
gave the new list of officers, and
Sarah Wickard and Janel Zinn
reported on the fund raiser at
Tractor Supply Co.
Under new business, the club
moved to donate $2OO to May
nard Long and his family for
medical bills after his horse acci
dent. Members will not be ex
changing gifts again this year,
but will donate toys to the Toys
for Tots program.
Aaron Cornman gave a dem
onstration on BST and how it
works.
