During its five years this show
has developed a well-deserved
reputation for attracting a wide
variety of high quality, rare and
unusual butter churns, made in

Exhibitors with items for pur

High quality butter churns, ad

A quart milk bottle exhibited by
an anonymous exhibitor had
been purchased earlier in the

I would like some information
on my Franciscan china. My set,
is marked Stangl, in Trenton,
N.J. Sculptured fruit. Since 1805.
M.H.M. - Whitfield, NJ
You don’t have Franciscan
china; it is Stangl. Stangl pot
tery had its beginnings became
Fulper Pottery. Johann Martin
Stangl, German-bom, became
president of the firm in 1928.
His name is on the pottery
from the late 1920 s till the
early 19505. Slang! is best
know for bird and animal fig-
ures.
You have one of his dinner
ware patterns “sculptured
fruit,” made in the early 19505.
A single 10” plate can sell for
$l5-20 in a shop.
I've had this bench of carved
wood and hand tooled leather for
years. It was given to me by Col
onel who served in Europe in
WWIII. It has a carved dedicat
ion on the back and a profile of
the German poet Johann Geothe
(1749-1832). Any information
will be helpful.

This bottle has a ballerina fig
ure inside and plays The Blue
Danube on its music box. I
haven’t opened it to know what
the liquid is. The bottle says,
“Bols Ballerina Bottle.” Nobody
knows what it is.

Your bottle contains some
type of liquor made by Bols li
queur Co. It could be of inter

1 have four cups and sauces
with the colorful Geisha girls,
etc. pattern.
The only markings are in
green ink. “Made in Japan.”
They belonged to my mother
years ago. I would like to know
something about them and what
they are worth.
Yours is one of several hun
dred, different patterns known
as “Geisha Girl,” made in
Japan from the late 19th to
early 20th century. A single
cup and saucer in your pattern
could sell in a shop for $25 a
pair.
This vase was a wedding pres
ent. It it eight inches tall with a
“v” indentation on the bottom. It
was identified by the shop where
purchased as being Chinese, c.
1860. It is porcelain and has the
raised figure of a dragon encir
cling the top and neck. It has a
painting of a bird and flowers.
Can you give me a “ball-park”
evaluation?
Your vase appears to be Chi
nese-style, hut the lack of Chi
nese marks and the “v” lead
me to believe it is Victorian,
mid-19th century, European.
It requires a hands-on ap
praisal to truly judge the type
of porcelain.
