FSA Reminds Livestock Producers About Loan Deficiency Payments POTTSVILLE (Schuylkill Co.) The Farm Service Agency is providing livestock producers’ benefits because of low crop and pasture produc tion. The program is available to owners of cattle, beefalo, buffalo, sheep, and goats. The direct payments are based on the number of head present on the farm on June 1. The payment rates range from $4.50 for sheep and goats to $31.50 for dairy cows. The deadline to apply for benefits through this program is Dec. 13. Crop producers should be aware that 2002 crop produc tion could be eligible for loan and/or loan deficiency pay- ments regardless of program participation status. The regu lations for this change were not published until Oct. 8. This may have caused some growers to dispose of their crop without taking benefits. If you fed or sold 2002 small grain prior to Oct. 8 you may still be eligible for this benefit. Applications must be filed by Jan. 10, 2003 at the Farm Service Agency located on the Gordon Nagle Trail south of Pottsville. If you have any questions call the office at (570) 622-1555, Ext. 2.
