Slaughter bulls sold with a lower undertone on a light test The quality of the bull run was a lot lower when compared to the past few weeks, with bidding moderate to weak due to the decrease. Bid ding was very active Tuesday on the high Select and low Choice steers, along with the higher dressing slock, as prices trended as much as 200 higher The quality of Monday's run was about average, with a lot more Select and over finished steers on hand than normal However, Tuesday's supply was made up of some fancier type fats, with several high dressers on hand bringing as much as 72.75. A good portion of Tuesday's run sold in the 70’s, although there were only around 120 on offer; therefore the de mand definitely outweighed the supply, which could have been one of the largest reasons prices were higher. The slaughter heifer supply included over 100 head, which is a noticeable increase when compared to the last cou ple of months. When compared to Tuesday's light sup ply, Heifers trended firm to fully 1.00 higher as buyers were quick to procure the well finished stock. Due to a very light test of Holstein steers on Tuesday, a full market comparison was not available; however a high er undertone was noted on Thursday's very nice run On a very good run, Lean and Boning cows sold firm to 1.00 higher; with Breaking cows trending 100-3 00 higher. With over 500 cows on offer the demand and supply should have been very even, however buyers were very active in procuring their needs as the holiday season is quickly approaching. Cow carcass cutout val ues continue to climb, even in the face of the Thanks giving holiday where turkey is the meat of choice. A slaughter bull trend was not established due to Tues day's very light supply. The supply included 31 per cent steers, 8 percent heifers, 40 percent cows, 7 per cent bulls, with the balance feeders.
