LIGHTS: The market tone on frozen hens
was mixed with lighter weights steady to
firm, balance steady to fully steady, toms
steady to instances fully steady. Fresh and
frozen demand light to moderate with
more processors focusing on fresh for the
upcoming major holiday. Offerings of
fresh and frozen whole turkeys generally
uneven. Bulk parts and meats demand
was light. Trading uneven.
EXPORT MARKET HIGHLIGHTS:
Trading centered on frozen tom drums
with the balance of export items slow. De
mand remains cautious and selective.

cent. Present week purchases for the week
ending Oct. 25 were 237,992 cases which
was 12 percent below the prior week and
10 percent above estimates.

up 7%; TOTAL: 237,992 down 12%.

was moderate and clearing the market at
a reasonable rate. Demand was moderate
with buyer interest and trading. Live sup
plies was moderate for the market being
reported with an estimated slaughter of
1,367,000 compared to 1,232,000 last
Tuesday. Weights were desirable. Pro
cessing schedules were moderate.
Negotiated F. 0.8. dock prices, 2
pounds and heavier ice-packed broilers
and fryers, trucklot sales of US Grade A
or equivalent were steady at .42 -.55 per
pound; less than trucklot sales .44 -.64 per
pound.

previous week’s trading. Although trad
ing was not heavy, the market tone was
fully steady to firm. Demand ranged light
to moderate. Offerings were irregular, but
usually held with increased confidence.

tion in the Eastern region for the week
ending October 19, 2002 were unchanged
from the previous week, but 3% higher
than a year ago.

Midweek trucklot buying activity was
cautious and unaggressive as purchases
continued to center around normally
committed product. Offerings of bone-in
breasts were in good balance. Boneless
skinless breasts were sufficient. Dark
meat cuts were fully adequate. Wings re
mained burdensome. Movement through
retail and distributive channels was sea
sonally sluggish. The market tone was at
least steady on bone-in breasts, barely
steady on wings and about steady on the
balance.
