week ending Oct. 11 were 300,183 cases
which was 21 percent above the prior
week and 10 percent above estimates.

down 2%; TOTAL: 300,183 up 21%.
Comparison figures are compiled on a
matched plant basis. Purchases and esti

Trucklot buying activity remained light
as trading mainly centered around com
mitted product and the lackluster de
mand warranted a cautious and selective
posture. Offerings of breast items were
available, with spot discounting noted to
stimulate sales. Dark meat cuts were fully
adequate. Wings were readily available
and attractively priced. Tenderloins were
ample. Movement through retail and dis
tributive channels was sluggish. The mar
ket tone continued barely steady to weak
on wings, and no better than steady to
barely steady on the balance.

Mostly prices were unchanged on
whites, unchanged to lower on whole and
sugar yolk, but unchanged to slightly
higher on salt yolk when compared to
previous week’s trading. Traders were
cautious, but market conditions were re
ported as usually steady. Demand was in
a full range but generally light to moder
ate. Offerings were adequate for trade
needs. Liquid and frozen eggs (ingredients
included) processed under federal inspec
tion in the Eastern region for the week
ending October 5, 2002 were 5 % more
than the previous week, and a year ago.

ings were adequate to ample and were
more readily available on the 3.5 and 4.0
pound sizes. Live supplies were moderate;
weights were light to heavy, mostly desir
able to heavy. Processing schedules were
moderate to moderately heavy. Less than
trucklot asking prices were unchanged at
47 to 61 cents. Trade sentiment was bare
ly steady. In the parts complex, all cuts
were at least adequate for the disappoint
ingly light to fair and generally unaggre
sive buying interest.

with buyer interest and trading. Live sup
plies was moderate for the market being
reported with an estimated slaughter of
1,249,000 compared to 1,319,000 last
Tuesday. Weights were desirable. Pro
cessing schedules were moderate.
Negotiated F. 0.8. dock prices, 2
pounds and heavier ice-packed broilers
and fryers, trucklot sales of US Grade A
or equivalent were steady at .42 -.55 per
pound, less than trucklot sales .44 -.64 per
pound.
