ly pressure on the Nanny supply as well,
as a sharply lower undertone was noted.
However, Billies and Wethers sold with a
firmer undertone on active trading and a
good supply. Buyer activity and attend

early, picking up mid-sale. Kids: Selection

CATTLE: Compared to Thursday, the
bulk of the slaughter steers sold steady to
weak, with higher quality Choice and
Prime steers trading with a firmer under
tone. Bidding was moderate on the plain
er type stock, picking up late on the fanci
er steers. Holstein steers sold with a
weaker undertone on a light run. A
slaughter heifer trend could not be estab
lished due to light receipts. Slaughter
cows sold fully .50-1.00 lower on very
light buyer attendance. The bulk of the
cow run was made up of lean cows, where
bidding was light. Slaughter bulls were
also in very light supply, therefore a trend
could not be established. The supply in
cluded 43 percent steers, 7 percent heif
ers, 45 percent cows, 3 percent bulls, with
the balance feeders.

prices up to 1.00 higher on the top quality
steers. Buyers were relatively active in
procuring ail grades, and very active in
their pursuits to own the fancy ones.
However, buyer interests lightened up late
as loads were already full, which led to a
few steers being bought a little cheaper
than the bulk. Holstein steers sold with a
higher undertone on a thin test. Holstein
receipts remain fairly light, with Thurs
day?s supply including several beef cross
es which sold at a premium. There were
not enough slaughter heifers for a market
test.
Breaking and boning cows sold .50 to
instances 1.00 higher in active trading.
Lean cow demand continues to be as good
as the supply, with prices trending hilly
.50 to 1.00 higher. Slaughter bulls sold
