Zorro yielded 6773 pounds of dry matter in the spring of 2002.
Impressive Yield Data
In Kentucky, Zorro was the highest yielding variety in all
three locations in 1999 (Lexington) and 2000 (Bowling Green
and Princeton) fall plantings. The 1999 Lexington, KY trial yielded
a combined fall 1999 and 2000 yield of 12,760 lbs of dry matter.
From that same planting a 2001 spring harvest yielded 1,920 lbs,
bringing the total yield for Zorro to 14,680 or 7.33 tons of dry

Mid August to Mid October. Plant prior to mid-
September for a November harvest.
Seeding Rates:
35-45 Ibs/acre seeded alone

Ryegrass seed is smaller than small grains. Plant

Fall Management:
Excessive fall growth (greater than 10 inches)

Silage Harvest Dates:
For super quality silage harvest when crop is 15-20 inches
or in boot stage. Typical dates: Nov., Apr. 20, May 10 6t 25,
and mid June. Can kilt off earlier for rotation crops.
Crop Rotation:
Zorro is fall and spring productive and can live up to 2 yrs.
For crop rotation, Zorro should be either moldboard plowed
or sprayed with a mm. of 1.5 qt. of Round-up per ac. Cen
tury BMR sorghum sundangrass, Millennium BMR forage
sorghum, short season silage corn, and soybeans are excel
lent crops to follow spring production.
