    Ayrshires, Jerseys Compete In The

Maryland State Fair.
Terry Rawn, Charleston,
W.Va., judged the Ayrshire show.
He has judged at 52 county and
state fairs and works for Alta Ge
netics.

Md. Tour Shows Urban Fringe Farming
ELLICOTT CITY, Md. To examine the challenges and opportu
nities facing farms on the “urban fringe,” a morning bus tour of four
western Howard County farms will be conducted Friday, Oct. 11.
The tour is being sponsored for anyone interested in seeing first
hand farming on the edge of urban sprawl.
Farms featured on the tour include Bowling Green Dairy Farm,
Inc., Philip Jones, Sykesville; Jasmine Organic Farm, Ghassan and
Tagrid Neshawat, Glenwood; Elioak Farm, Martha Clark, Ellicott
City; and Clarkland Farm, Sen. James Clark, Ellicott City.
The tour will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. from the Central Mary
land Research and Education Center, Ellicott City and return by
12:30 p.m. There is no charge. Those interested are requested to con
tact the development authority at (410) 313-6560 by Friday, October 4
to reserve a seat.
