Trade sentiment was generally steady.
Retail demand was slow to fair, food serv
ice fair to moderate with best interest into
fast food, delis, and at casual dining fa
cilities. Supplies of ail sizes were at least
sufficient to satisfy trade needs. In the
parts structure, trading was mixed with
present commitments usually enough to
handle needs. Breast items were irregular,
ranging balanced to well cleared with
wings in the same position, but frequently
tight and held with confidence. Dark
meat was readily available with limited
movement. In production areas, live sup
plies were moderate. Weights were in a
full range, but mostly desirable.
The 12-City Weighted Average Price
for 08/12/02 was 55.51, compared to 55.55
last week, and 59.85 a year ago.

Prices in most areas were unchanged.
Trade sentiment was in a full range of
cautiously steady to weak. Demand into
retail channels was light to occasionally
moderate. Supplies of the larger sizes
ranged sufficient to available and offer
ings of mediums were usually ample for
current needs. Breaking stock supplies
were adequate to ample for the light to
moderate demand. The National shell egg
inventory was 4% more than last week.
Light type hens were adequate for regular
slaughter schedules.

Prices were unchanged. The market
tone was unsettled, although usually cau
tiously steady. Retail demand was light
with limited feature activity. Large eggs
were selling for buy 1 dozen, get 1 dozen
free. The New York shell egg inventories
were about unchanged from the previous
week, however the New Jersey shell egg
inventories decreased 19 percent when
compared to last week. Supplies ranged
adequate to ample for current trade
needs.
