DOMESTIC MARKET HIGH
LIGHTS: The market tone on 8-16 lb
hens and 16-24 lb toms was steady to fully
steady. No sales reported for prompt ar
rivals. Deferred shipments reported with
price ceilings of 68 cents for hens and 63
cents for toms. Offerings of whole birds
uneven. Demand remains light. Bulk
parts and meats trading was slow. De
mand light as most buyers remain cau
tious and selective.
EXPORT MARKET HIGHLIGHTS:
Trading slow with sales centered on light
volumes of tom drums. Demand slow as
shoppers canvas for less than current
market levels. Supplies available for cur
rent demand.

Cooperators estimate orders for the
week ending July 19, 2002, will increase
by 4 percent. Present week purchases for
the week ending July 12 were 2749,384
cases which was 9 percent below the prior
week and 3 percent above estimates.
CASES PURCHASED: CARTONED:
211,944 down 9%; LOOSE: 37,440
down 10%; TOTAL: 249,384 —up 13%.
Comparison figures are compiled on a
matched plant basis. Purchases and esti
mates by 17 cooperators; 30 dozen cases
or equivalent.

Majority prices were unchanged to
lower, mostly unchanged. Trade senti
ment was steady to barely steady, at times
weak in parts of the East. Retail demand
was light to fair; however, food service
was fair to good, best for fast food. Sup
plies were more than adequate and easy
to locate. In the parts structure, trading
was limited to fair with normal commit
ments usually sufficient for needs. Avail
ability was fully adequate to plentiful
with discounted pricing noted. In produc
tion areas, live supplies were moderate at
mixed, but mostly desirable weights.

In New York and Philadelphia, prices
were higher on the larger sizes and un
changed on the balance. Elsewhere, prices
were unchanged. The market tone ranged
steady to firm for the heavy weights, but
were cautiously steady to barely steady on
mediums. Demand was light to moderate,
best where featured. Supplies of mediums
were fully adequate to at times ample
while offerings of the larger sizes were
tight to sufficient. Breaking stock demand
was light to moderate for fully adequate
to ample offerings. Light type fowl were
hilly sufficient to ample for regular
slaughter schedules.

Trucklot buying activity remained light
and spotty as dealers kept floor stocks in
close balance with most immediate needs.
Offerings of breast items were at least
adequate to available. Dark meat cuts
were ample. Wings were at least suffi
cient, but clearing well. Movement
through retail and distributive channels
was sluggish. The market tone was no
better than steady.

was moderate and clearing the market at
a reasonable rate. Demand was moderate
with buyer interest and trading. Live sup
plies was moderate for the market being
reported with an estimated slaughter of
1363,000 compared to 1,326,000 last
Tuesday. Weights were desirable. Pro
cessing schedules were moderate.
Negotiated F. 0.8. dock prices, 2
pounds and heavier ice-packed broilers
and fryers, trucklot sales of US Grade A
or equivalent were steady at .50 -.60 per
pound; less than trucklot sales .49 -.67 per
pound.
