New Mechanical Technology
Building Constructed For
Hay Creek Festival
GEIGERTOWN (Berks Co.)
The Hay Creek Valley Histori
cal Association has used old tech
nology in the construction of a
new building on its Hay Creek
Festival grounds at the Historic
Joanna Furnace Iron Plantation.
Named the Mechanical Tech
nology Building, it was designed
with a touch of the past in every
aspect of its construction. The
post and beam construction is the
strongest throwback to buildings
at the turn of the century. The
exhibits will include antique cars,
tractors, and steam and gas en
gine exhibits.
The Hay Creek Festival, called
“a celebration of early American
life,” will take place September
6-8 this year. The gates open at
7:00 a.m. each day with the main
attractions on display from 10:00
to 5:00 p.m., rain or shine. Ad
mission is free for children under
12; with adult admission at $5.00
Friday and $7.00 on Saturday
