Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds
was slow with midweek buying interest
typically light. Seller offerings were in
fairly decent balance on the smaller sizes;
fully adequate to ample on the heavier
sizes. Live supplies were about moderate;
weights were mostly desirable to heavy.
Processing schedules were moderate to
moderately heavy. Less than trucklot
asking prices were unchanged at 58 to 72
cents. Trade sentiment was about steady.
In the parts complex, all items were at
least adequate. Breast cuts were in good
balance to fully adequate. Leg quarters
were fully adequate to ample.

In Philadelphia, prices were unchanged
to 2 cents lower on the larger sizes. Prices
paid to producers in New England were 2
cents lower on extra large and large.
Prices were unchanged on the balance of
sizes and in Boston. The market tone was
unsettled and ranged steady to mostly
barely steady. Demand into all channels
was light to moderate. Supplies were ade
quate to available. Breaking stock offer
ings were usually adequate for the light to
moderate demand. Light type hens were
fully adequate to ample.

Market activity was slow on frozen tom
breast meat and destrapped tenderloins
with a steady to instances fully steady un
dertone. Offerings available. Trade senti
ment on frozen scapula and wing meat
was barely steady at best with wing meat
in the softest position, breast trim about
steady. Demand for white meat trims was
slow for the adequate to ample offerings.
Trading centered on a light volume of fro
zen thigh meat for export. Export interest
ranged slow to moderate with interest
noted for Russia for prompt shipments
and for Mexico. Some export buyers for
Russia and Mexico remained cautious
while they wait for clarification of import
