Market Goat Club
The last meeting of the North
Mountain Goat Club was Sun
day, May 19. Anji Reif
snyder and Kate Gerber did a
presentation on fitting. Kate and
Anji went over how to shave the
goat, cleaning out the goat’s
ears, painting goat hooves and
other things that the judge will
look for. Kyle Allen, Cassie
Beakler, and Danielle Bates did
a presentation on why they
joined the goat club.
June 2 at the Dresch Farm,
there were two presentations
given by members. Katie Eckert
and Kate Gerber did their pre
sentation on why they chose to
raise a market goat. Doug and
Travis Dresch did their presen
tation on clipping the entire goat
for the fair.
Doug and Travis stated that if
you clip a goat for the fair, the
goat’s hair will grow back shi
nier and it will look nicer. They
also stressed that when you clip
the goat you need to get the lit
tlest details such as ears, around
the face, hooves, and its belly.
Doug and Travis said that de
pending how your goat is
clipped could place you first or
second.
Jo Lynn Brummer is the ham
and chicken barbecue chairper
son for the fair. Those interested
