CATTLE: Compared to last weeks
closing prices slaughter steers sold
1.00- higher. Early sales opened on a
steady to Arm note, with late sales trading
very active and good demand. A large
supply was noticed Thursday due to Me
morial Day early in the week. Holstein
steers steady to firm. Slaughter heifers not
well tested but a higher undertone noted.
Feedlots in the Plains and Midwest re
ported live and dressed sales mostly
steady 63.00-66.50 avg 65.25 and 101.00-
104.00 avg 102.70. Slaughter cows closed
steady on active trading. Slaughter bulls
steady to 1.00 higher. Supply included 47
percent slaughter steers, 7 percent slaugh
ter heifers, 34 percent cows, 5 percent
bulls, with the balance feeders.
