Movement of rcady-to-cook whole birds
was moderate and clearing the market at
a reasonable rate. Demand was moderate
with buyer interest and trading. Live sup
plies were moderate for the market being
reported with an estimated slaughter of
1,352,000 compared to 1,248,000 last
Tuesday. Weights were desirable to
heavy. Processing schedules were moder
ate. Actual slaughter for 5/13-5/18 was
6,695,207 head with an average weight of
4.91. Supply of boneless skinless breast
was moderate to light with demand mod
erate with average buyer interest and
trading.
Negotiated F. 0.8. dock prices, 2
pounds and heavier ice-packed broilers
and fryers, trucklot sales of US Grade A
or equivalent were steady at .48 -.62 per
pound, less than trucklot sales .51 -.70 per
pound.

Prices in most locations were un
changed on mediums and higher on the
larger sizes. The market tone was fully
steady to firm on the heavy weights and
steady on the lighter eggs. Demand con
tinued in a full range of light to fairly
good. Supplies were sufficient to close, in
stances tight for current needs. Breaking
stock demand was mostly moderate to oc
casionally good for adequate offerings.
Light type hens were fully sufficient to
ample for at least normal processing
schedules.

was generally good. Offerings were in
good balance to well cleared on the 2.5 to
3.5 pound sizes; fully adequate on larger
sizes. Live supplies were seasonally mod
erate; weights were mostly desirable to
heavy. Processing schedules were moder
ate to moderately heavy. Less than truck
lot asking prices were 1 cent higher at 55
to 69 cents. Trade sentiment was firm. In
the parts complex, boneless skinless and
particularly bone-in breasts were no more
than adequate. Leg quarters were fully
adequate. Wings were fully adequate to
ample.

Trade sentiment was at least steady. De

reported as inactive. Offerings were ade

eggs (ingredients included) processed
under federal inspection in the Eastern
region for the week ending May 11, 2002
were 1% higher than the previous week
and 3% more than a year ago.

Prices in Philadelphia were unchanged
to 2 cent higher on die larger sizes. Prices
paid to producers in New England were 2
cent higher for extra large and large. In
Boston prices on extra large and large
were unchanged to 1 cent higher. Prices
on the balance of sizes were unchanged.
Trade sentiment was steady to fully
steady, instances firm, with the larger
sizes in the best position. Demand was
light to mostly moderate and improving.
Supplies were generally adequate for cur
rent trade needs. Breaking stock offerings
were usually sufficient for the mostly nor
mal to at times good demand. Light type
fowl were fully adequate to ample.

Cooperators estimate orders for the
week ending May 24, 2002, will decrease
by 4 percent. Present week purchases for
the week ending May 17 were 258,282
cases which was 1 percent below the prior
week and 12 percent above estimates.
CASES PURCHASED: CARTONED:
218,708 —0%; LOOSE; 39,574 down
6%; TOTAL: 258,282 down 1 %.
Comparison figures are compiled on a
matched plant basis. Purchases and esti
mates by 17 cooperators; 30 dozen cases
or equivalent.
Prices increased 2 cents on heavier
weight eggs. The market tone was firm on
larger sizes and steady on medium. De
mand ranged light to moderate, mostly
moderate. Supplies were sufficient for
trade requirements. The New York shell
egg inventories were 21 percent more
than a week ago, however the New Jersey
shell egg inventories were 7 percent less
than the previous Monda
