The 4-H Tractor Club mem
bers and parents met for the 49th
annual awards banquet at the
Franklin County Career and
Technology Center. The family
style dinner was planned to rec
ognize project club winners and
to complete the annual winter
program that involved 38 mem
bers. This was the last meeting in
2002.
Ben Cashell, club president,
made an introduction and then
Jere Wingert, program director,
made a few comments. A ribbon
was given to each member to de
termine how he or she did in
their project book.
Dale Martin and Michael Slo
thour taught the first year group,
and gave Elijah Hess, Green
castle, first place. Geoffery Mar
tin, Chambers burg, was awarded
second place, and Daniel Car
baugh, Waynesboro, was award
ed third place.
Roger and Kevin Dice taught
the second year group, and
awarded Ben Cashed, Chambers
burg, first place; Janies Zaiger,
Waynesboro, second place, and
Lamar Slothour, Chambersburg,
third place.
Greg Lesher taught the third
year group, and awarded
Justin Slothour, Chambers
burg, first place; Isaac Hess,
Greencastle, second place;
and Roy Hess, Waynesboro,
third place.
Special thanks were given
to Jere Wingert and the rest
of the teachers for their time
teaching the groups how a
tractor works, and about
tractor safety. Special thanks
were given to the tractor
dealers for the use of their
facilities and refreshments
they provided. One teach
said, “You are a winner even
if you don’t get a prize and
are a sport about it.”
