Trucklot buying activity continued fair
to moderate as dealers attempted to as
sess needs approaching the weekend. Of
ferings of boneless-skinless breasts were
no more than adequate to closely cleared
and bone-in breasts remained tight. Leg
quarters were noted as better balanced.
Boneless skinless thighs and wings were
readily available. Movement through re
tail and distributive channels was fair to
fairly good as continued feature activity
on breast items remained strong. The
market tone was fully steady to instances

The undertone on tom breast meat con
tinued to show signs of improvement with
a heavy volume of frozen and spot loads
of fresh noted at higher trending price
levels for May shipments. Tom breast
meat demand ranged light to instances
fair. Supplies were available with some
sellers asking higher prices. The under
tone on the balance of white meat items
continued barely steady at best. The bulk
parts undertone was steady to firm on
hen 2-joint wings, steady to fully steady
on tom drums, barely steady at best on
necks and tails, and mostly steady on the
balance of items. Demand was light to
fair, best on tom drums. Offerings of hen
2-joint wings were short of buyers’ needs,
tom drums light to adequate, necks ade
quate to ample, balance adequate. Export
trading centered on tom drums, balance
slow. Fresh wing meat traded at 67 cents
delivered domestic and hearts at 27.75
cents delivered export.

Mostly prices were lower on salted
yolks and remained unchanged on the
balance of products when compared to
previous week’s trading. The market tone
was mixed on yolks and steady on the re
mainder of items. Activity improved, al
though demand was usually moderate.
Supplies were adequate for trade require
ments. Liquid and frozen eggs (ingredi
ents included) processed under federal in
spection in the Eastern region for the
week ending April 20, 2002 were 19c more
than the previous week, and unchanged
from a year ago.

was moderate to light and clearing the
market at a reasonable rate Demand was
moderate to light with average buyer in
terest and trading. Live supplies were
moderate for the market being reported
with an estimated slaughter of 1,331,000
compared to 1,341,000 last Tuesday
Weights were desirable. Processing sched
ules were moderate. Supply of bone in
breast was moderate for the market being
reported while demand was good and
trading more active than normal. Actual
slaughter for the week of 4/22-4/26 was
6,726,613 head with an average weight of
4.84.

pounds and heavier ice-packed broilers
