Prices were unchanged on very light
trading. Offerings of b/s breasts were fully
adequate to ample, bone-in breasts and
leg quarters were clearing, wings and b/s
thighs were available with some spot
trades noted at discount levels. Overall,
trading and retail movement was light
with most buyers watching further mar
ket developments. Trade sentiment was
steady on bone-in breast and leg quarters,
steady to weak on b/s breast, balance of
items was on the soft side of a steady
market.

Movement of ready-to-cook whole birds
was fair at best. Seller offerings were gen
erally noted as adequate to ample and re
mained more readily available on the
larger sizes. Live supplies were mostly
moderate; weights were light to heavy,
mostly desirable to heavy. Processing
schedules were moderate to moderately
heavy. Less than trucklot asking prices
were unchanged at 47 to 61 cents. Trade
sentiment was barely steady. In the parts
complex, boneless skinless breasts were
fully adequate to ample. Bone-in breasts
and leg quarters were adequate and clear
ing satisfactorily. Wings were fully ade
quate.

DOMESTIC MARKET HIGH
LIGHTS: The market tone on whole body
hens and toms was steady to barely
steady. Offerings adequate for current
needs. Demand light as buyers are cau
tious and not pushing to purchase.
Limited sales reported of private label
whole birds that are basted, netted and
timed with price ceilings for hens at 59.2 S
cents and for toms at 53.2 S cents for
April. Bulk parts and meats offerings
fully adequate. Buyers and sellers at a
stand off. Buyers bidding lower on prod
uct and sellers offering items at steady
price levels. Domestic trading consisted of
limited volumes on a variety of items.
EXPORT MARKET HIGHLIGHTS:
Export trading centered on light volumes
of frozen thigh meat and tom drums. De
mand light to moderate as most buyers
take a wait and see attitude. Interest
noted from Mexico, Eastern Europe and
Asia. Most sources watching for further
developments of the Russian ban of poul
try.
