No-Till Farmer magazine are
seeking nominations for the sev
enth annual No-Till Innovator
Awards. Nominations are en
couraged for any individuals or
groups in the U.S. and Canada
who demonstrate a deep com
mitment to soil conservation,
practice no-till or dedicate
themselves to the promotion of
no-till farming.
The No-Till Innovator
Awards recognize outstanding
growers, researchers, organiza
tions and others who have dedi
cated themselves to finding
ways to use no-till farming tech
niques more effectively, more
economically and with lower en
vironmental impact.
Individuals or organizations
can be nominated in each of the
following categories. Self
nominations are accepted.
Anyone who has made a signifi
cant contribution to the ad
vancement of no-till farming is
eligible to win, regardless of the
crop grown, or brand of equip
ment or crop protection prod
ucts used.
• Ag Supplier: A fertilizer,
agrichemical, seed or equipment
dealership that has actively
adopted no-till practices and

has actively promoted no-till

$13.48 per hundredweight
($1.16 per gallon) for milk
delivered to plants located
in Suffolk County, Mass.
(Boston). The February sta
tistical uniform price is
$13.38 for delivery to plants
in New York, N.Y., and
$13.28 for delivery to plants
in Philadelphia. The statisti
cal uniform price is the
benchmark minimum pro
ducer blend price paid to
dairy farmers, prior to al
lowable deductions, for milk
containing 3.5 percent but
terfat, 2.99 percent protein,
and J 5.69 percent other

tion of the plant(s) to which
the farm’s milk is delivered.
Rasmussen also stated
that the producer price dif
ferential (PPD) for February
is $1.85 per hundredweight
for milk delivered to plants
located in Suffolk County.
The PPD represents each
producer’s share of the
value generated by the mar
ketwide pool on a hun
dredweight basis. The PPD,
which is added to the pay
ment producers receive for
their milk’s components, is
adjusted for the location of
the receiving plant. The sta
tistical uniform price and
PPD decrease by scheduled
amounts the more distant
the plant receiving producer
milk is from Suffolk
County.
The Class prices for milk
pooled in February are as
follows: Class I, $15.20 (Suf
folk County); Class 11,
$12.28; Class 111, $11.63;

butterfat, $1.3817 per
pound; other solids, $0.0965
per pound; and nonfat
solids, $0.7721 per pound.
Milk receipts from pro
ducers totaled 2.008 billion
pounds. Class I utilization,
milk processed as beverage
milk, was 40.8 percent of
producer milk receipts. The
average Class I utilization
was 43.3 percent in Febru
ary 2001.
The manufacture of Class
II products such as cream,
ice cream, yogurt, and cot
tage cheese utilized 16.4 per
cent of producer milk. Milk
used to manufacture Class
111 products such as cheese
(American and Italian) and
evaporated and condensed
products utilized 29.8 per
cent of total milk receipts.
Class IV usage
nonfat and whole 1 milk
