Retail de mand was slow to fair with first of the month movement disappointing, but hopes to improve towards the end of the week. Food service was fair to moderate. Supplies of all sizes were at least adequate with heavier weights occasionally long. In the parts structure, trading was light and selective with regular commitments usually sufficient to handle needs. Avail ability was adequate to ample with wings and leg items more available and often discounted. In production areas, live sup plies were moderate. Weights were mostly desirable to at times heavier. The 12-City Weighted Average Price for 04/01/02 was 52.95, compared to 54.18 last week, and 57.91 a year ago.
