is able to enjoy the many benefits
that membership has to offer. The
hay shows that PFGC sponsors, the
excellent publications that are pro
vided to members, and the many ed
ucation events that the council helps
to sponsor, are several examples of
member benefits. They represent
quite a bargain for an annual mem
bership of $20.00.
One of the events that PFGC
helps to cosponsor is the Pennsylva
nia Grazing and Forage Conference.
This years conference promises to be
an exceptional program.
Mr. Charlie Opitz of Mineral
Point, Wisconsin will be our fea
tured speaker. He will discuss how
he grazes his 1,200 lactating cow
herd on a 3,000 acre system. He will
tell us how he took his grazing
system to the next level, plus how he
advanced his management skills to
the next level. Yes, I did say 1,200
cows on pasture. Look for other con
ference information in this special
section.
It goes without saying that an or
ganization is only as strong as it
weakest link. In my year as presi
dent of PFGC I found out that your
organization is a strong chain and I
could not find a weak link. Every
one of the officers and board mem
bers did an outstanding job for you
and I want to thank them for all
their hard work and dedication to
making PFGC the great organiza
tion that it is.
As you can probably tell from
these comments that my term as
president is coming to a close.
Before the next issue of Foraging
Around is published you will have a
new president John Pergosky, a
