CIVIL WAR ITEMS OF FAMOUS SNYDER COUNTY SOLDIER
Corporal Henry Brown of Company D, 152nd Regiment, who resided in Freeburg
PA, served faithfully for the Union for three years & three months. While stationed
at Fortress Monroe,Virginia he and another Snyder Countian, Comrade Buck, had
the distinguished honor of guarding Confederate President Jefferson Davis after he
was captured by Union troops. After the war Mr Brown returned to his former trade
of wagon making, and was later elected Associate Judge of Snyder County in 1889
and served until 1893. Honorable Henry Brown died on January 6, 1929. Being
offered are his.
