CATTLE; compared to last Thursday,
slaughter steers and Holstein steers sold
mostly steady. Trading was active on a
small supply of well-finished cattle.
Slaughter heifers traded steady to SO
cents higher in a light test. Slaughter
cows traded steady on a limited supply.
Slaughter bulls were not well tested.
Supply included 50 percent slaughter
steers and 33 percent cows.

to .50 higher. Trading was active, with a
large supply of heavy cattle on offer.

CATTLE; Compared to last week’s
closing prices, slaughter steers and heif
ers sold steady to .50 higher. Early sales
opened mostly steady on light offerings
due to the holiday, but toward the end of
the week numbers improved in the sale
barn to close on a positive note for the
week. Local Holstein steer prices traded
mostly steady on a light supply. In the
direct feedlot trade not enough volume
to establish an adequate market trend al
though few early sales indicate a firmer
undertone. Few live sales reported
Thursday 65-80 percent Choice at 63.00
and 100.00-103.00 avg 102.48 dressed.
Slaughter cows were very active all
week, and prices closed fully steady on
Breakers and Boners; lean cows traded
steady to 2.00 higher, with most of the
supply coming late in the week. Slaugh
ter bulls ended the week 2.00 higher.
Supply included 35 percent steers, 10
percent heifers, 46 percent cows, 4 per
cent bulls, with the balance feeders!
