lower. Feeder heifers 1.00-2.00 lower.
Steer calves under 550 lbs steady; heav
ier weight steer calves and heifer calves
3.00-4.00 lower. Demand moderate for
steers, light to moderate for heifers.
Sluggish slaughter cattle trade, heavy
losses in the feedlot, and lack of an ag
gressive slaughter mode has hampered
demand from the feedlot sector. Quality
plain to average. Bulk of calves weaned
and in thin to moderate flesh. Feeders in
medium to fleshy conditions with many
out of grow lots. Weigh-ups of calves
gaunt to average; feeders average to full.
Receipts this week 13,025; last week
12,717; last year 6464. Supply consisted
of 48% yearlings & calves over 600 lbs;
47% calves under 600 lbs; 5% cows and
bulls. Heifers comprised 37% of feeder &
