New President Of National
Dairy Shrine Named
COLUMBUS, Ohio Dr.
David Seiner, dairy genetics con
sultant, Shawano, Wisconsin was
elected president of National
Dairy Shrine (NDS) on Oct. 4
during the 52nd annual meeting
conducted during the World
Dairy Expo in Madison, Wis.
The new president is serving
his second term on the NDS
board and has served as co-chair
man of the 50th anniversary cele
bration in 1999 as well as chair
man of several other committees.

The new president-elect is Dr.
Duane Norman, USDA research
leader in Beltsville, Md. Norman
is also in his second term on the
board and is serving as chairman
of the national membership com
mittee. Total membership in
NDS recently passed the 17,000
mark during the World Dairy
Expo where 159 individuals
joined the ranks.
The 2001-2002 executive com
mittee consists of David Seiner,

Scenic Mountain Cooperative
Conducts Meeting
WYSOX (Bradford Co.)
Scenic Mountain Milk Producers
Cooperative recently conducted
their annual meeting at the Bon
anza Restaurant here, attended
by the members from Bradford
and Sullivan counties. Manager
La Verne McCarty commended
the members on their continued
support of the cooperative and
announced a successful year with
a patronage dividend of 12 cents
per hundredweight on last year’s
production paid to members.
United Ag Services’ President
Robert Nichols, stressed the need
for additional milk supplies to
meet market demands, urging
members to recruit additional
producers for Scenic Mountain.

He also discussed the advantages
of a quality premium program
with declining milk prices ex
pected over the next few months.
Nichols noted that the declining
number of dairy farms in Penn
sylvania is making it increasingly
difficult to meet manufacturers’
demands. Scenic Mountain is a
member of United Ag Services.
Robert Stoll, Rome, and
Duane and Betty Reibson, Fork
sville, were the top quality award
winners for 2001. Each year,
United Ag Services presents
awards to its member coopera
tive’s top quality producers.

Judy Oliver, Meshop
pen, was re-elected
secretary/treasurer.
