In Philadelphia, prices were un
changed to 1 cent higher on all sizes. In
Boston, prices were unchanged to 1 cent
higher on the larger sizes and unchanged
to 2 cents higher on mediums. In New
England, prices were 1 cent higher for
large and medium and unchanged on
tne balance of sizes. The market tone
was steady to fully steady. Demand into
all outlets ranged moderate to fairly
good. Supplies were adequate to fully
adequate for full trade needs. Breaking
stock offerings were usually adequate for
the fair to good demand. Light type hens
were fully sufficient for normal slaugh
ter schedules.

birds was moderate. Demand was mod
erate. Live supplies were moderate for
plant needs with an estimated slaughter
of 1,394,000 compared to 1,364,000 last
Wednesday. Weights were desirable.
Processing schedules were moderate.
Supply and demand of wings were mod
erate for the market being reported.
Negotiated F. 0.8. dock prices, 2
pounds and heavier ice-packed broilers
and fryers, trucklot sales of US Grade A
or equivalent were steady at .52 - .62 per
pound, less than trucklot sales .51 -.72
per pound.

Prices generally ranged unchanged to
higher on yolks, irregular on whites, and
mostly unchanged on whole when com
pared to a week earlier. Offerings were
usually tight to short on yolk, adequate
on whole egg and sufficient on whites
Demand was seasonal and usually
ranged light to moderate. Undertone
was fully steady to firm on yolks, steady
on whole egg and unsettled to barely
steady on whites. Liquid and frozen eggs
(ingredients included) processed under
federal inspection in the Eastern region
for the week ending Oct. 06, 2001 were
4% less than the previous week, and 2%
less than a year ago.

Truckiot buying activity on ready-to
cook whole broiler/frycrs was light to no
better than fair as dealers remained cau
tious and limited orders to immediate
needs. Offerings were at least adequate
on the smaller sizes, heavier sizes were
fully adequate. Movement through retail
and distributive channels was about fair.
The market tone was cautiously steady.
