Justin Potts of Purcellville, Va., plans to return to
the family dairy upon his graduation. He is a senior at
Virginia Tech and is studying dairy science. Potts is
very active in the dairy club and Alpha Gamma Rho
and has held leadership positions in both organiza
tions. Potts is the son of Eddie and Marty Potts.
Brent Shafer is a senior at Virginia Tech, studies ag
ricultural technology, and hopes to return to his fami
ly’s dairy as a herdsman. He has a strong dairy
background having participated in 4-H, FFA, the Vir
ginia Tech Dairy Club, and national and state BroWn
Swiss and Holstein associations. Shafer is the son of

dairy and animal science. His interests include 4-H,
FFA, the Georgia Junior Holstein Association, and the
high school marching and symphonic bands. He is a
former member of the national and state winning
dairy bowl teams.
Maryland & Virginia Milk Producer’s scholarships
are awarded to the sons and daughters of dairy farmer
members. Students must be pursuing a degree and
plan on working in the dairy industry. Maryland &
Virginia Milk Producers (www.mdvamilk.com) is a
milk marketing and processing cooperative which
markets milk for nearly 1,600 dairy farmers in ten
states from Pennsylvania to Alabama.
