New York Dairy Princess Promoters Receive Trainin
SYRACUSE, N.Y. The an
nual New York State Dairy Prin
cess Seminar was conducted July
5 and 6, at the White Eagle Con
ference Center in Hamilton, N.Y.
Thirty-two princesses along with
their chaperones attended the
two-day seminar, for an educa
tional start to the various pro
grams and functions of the prin
cess program in New York State.
“It gives ADADC the opportu
nity to inform the girls of what is
expected of them during their
reign,” says coordinator Meghan
Fullington. “It also gives them a
chance to meet their fellow
promoters, and myself the oppor
tunity to meet the girls I will be
working with for the next year.”
The dairy princess program is
designed to increase the con
sumption and sales of fluid milk
and dairy products. It is also as a
means to foster better relations
between urban and rural people,
through one-on-one contact at
the local level. Dairy princesses
serve this purpose by spending
their reign out amongst the peo
ple of their counties, whether it is
serving ice cream at a county
fair, doing a school program, or
attending a store promotion. The
dairy princess is an enthusiast

takes to produce dairy products.
At the seminar, the girls take
part in a number of activities,
which will help them to better ed

products. For instance, the first
day the girls participated in a
media workshop giving them tips
on how to work with local news
papers on submitting articles; a
fashion show on dairy princess
fashion do’s and don’ts put on by
the three state princesses; and the
Madison County Health Depart
ment also helped to better edu
cate the girls on the health bene
fits in milk needed for strong
bones.
Day two allowed the girls to
view some of their fellow promot
er’s school programs. School pro
grams are a mandatory part of
their reign at the county level.
The State Princesses Kendra
Inman, Elizabeth Newbold, and
Heather Nowland, along with
Melinda Wolfe, the Pennsylvania
state princess, critiqued the
school programs and offered ad

Throughout their reign as a
county princess, each girl is re
