Best Southcentral Dairy Animals Selected For State Youth Show
SHIPPENSBURG (Cumber
land Co.) About 110 dairy
heifers and cows from seven
breeds were exhibited at the
Southcentral District Youth
Dairy Show here Aug. 2.
Ayrshire, Brown Swiss,
Guernsey, Holstein, Jersey,
Milking Shorthorn, and Red and
White females were led before
judge Chris Hill.
Philip Wagner, Franklin
County dairy agent and presi
dent of the show committee, said
that in the past the show has
consistently featured high qual
ity dairy animals—and they are
still improving.
“Quality continues to get
better all the time,” he said.
Most of the animals were
brought to the show from farms
in Franklin or Cumberland
counties.
Judge Hill was also pleased
with the selection of animals at
the show.
“The (winning animals)
should do well at the state
show,” he said.
