The steer market opened on a slow start with losses noticed early and late in the week. This week’s supply was heavy with most of the bulk arriving Thursday at the local sale barn. Local Holstein steer prices also started the week with losses and closed 1.00-1.50 lower. Feedlots in the Plains and Midwest reported live cattle at 68.00-71.00 avg 69.54 and 109.00- 114.00 avg 111.09 dressed basis. Slaughter cows continue to hold and prices were steady to .50 higher for the week. Slaughter bull prices opened the week steady to 1.00 lower and closed steady to 1.00 higher.
