Movement of ready-to-cook whole
birds was generally no better than fair.
Seller offerings varied in volume and
size but were fully sufficient for current
inquiry. Live supplies were mostly mod
erate; weights were mostly desirable to
heavy. Processing schedules were mod
erate to moderately heavy. Less than
trucklot asking prices were-unchanged
at 58 to 72 cents. Trade sentiment was
steady. In the parts complex, leg quar
ters continued to clear satisfactorily.
Other items were at least adequate for
the generally light and selective buying

In New York, prices were unchanged.
In the Midwest and Chicago, prices were
higher on all sizes. In most other regions,
prices were higher on the larger sizes and
unchanged on mediums. The market
tone was fully steady to firm. Demand
was in a full range of light to good, best
where features were in progress. Sup
plies were adequate to close, instances
tight in the Midwest due to high tem
peratures. Breaking stock offerings were
adequate for the moderate demand.
Light type fowl were fully adequate for
current slaughter schedules.
Prices were two cents higher on the
heavier weight eggs and one cent higher
on mediums. The market tone was fully
steady to firm. Retail and distributive
demand was moderate to good, best
where items were featured.
Supplies were adequate to closely bal
anced for current trade needs.
