Trucklot buying activity was mostly
moderate as most dealers were working
from fully adequate floorstocks as the
mid-week 4th of July holiday ap
proached. Offerings of bone-in breast
and dark meat items were balanced, and
clearing well. Wings were readily avail
able and competitively priced Move
ment through retail channels was fair to
moderate. The market tone was steady
to fully steady on bone-in breast, at least
steady on boneless skinless breast. Dark
meat cuts were steady to fully steady.
Wings were barely steady to weak.

Movement of ready-to-cook whole
birds was generally noted as decent with
satisfactory clearances going into the
holiday. Offerings showed some varia
tion in both size and/or volume available,
but were adequate overall. Live supplies
were moderate; weights remained
mostly in a range of desirable to heavier
than desired. Processing schedules were
heavy when added to operations
planned on the Holiday. Less than truck
lot asking prices were unchanged at 57
to 71 cents. Trade sentiment was steady
to fully steady. In the parts complex, all
cuts were adequate. Bone-in breasts were
in close balance. Wings were moving

lower on sugar yolks, unchanged to
higher on salt yolk, and unchanged on
balance of other items when compared
to a week earlier. Supplies were ade
quate to fully adequate. Demand was
generally reported in a full range of light
to good. Trade sentiment was cautious
on salt yolk, and usually steady on bal
ance. Liquid and frozen eggs (ingred
ients included) processed under federal
inspection in the Eastern region for the
week ending June 23, 2001 were un
changed from the previous week, but 10
% less than a year ago. Total year to date
change was about IS % less than last
year.

LIGHTS: The trade sentiment for 8-16
lb. hens and 16-24 lb. toms was steady
for current shipments and steady to fully
steady for deferred. Demand was light.
Trading was fair in the East on hens and
toms at 66 cents for October. Parts and
meats demand and trading limited. Most
items about steady, however some re
porting weakness on mechanically sepa
rated turkey and frozen thigh meat.

Trading light. Demand slow. Buyers
