Corn Stocks Up 9%
Corn stocks in all positions on
June 1, 2001 totaled 3.92 billion
bushels, up 9 percent from June
1, 2000 and the highest level
since 1988. Of the total stocks,
2.23 billion bushels are stored on
farms, up 10 percent from a year
earlier. Off-farm stocks, at 1.69
billion bushels, are up 9 percent
from the previous year. The
March - May 2001 indicated dis
appearance is 2.12 billion bush
els, compared with 2.02 billion
bushels during the same period
last year.
Soybean Stocks Down 9%
Soybeans stored in all posi
tions on June 1, 2001, totaled
708 million bushels, down 9 per
cent from June 1,2000. On-farm
stocks totaled 365 million bush
els, down 1 percent from the
same period a year ago. Off
farm stocks, at 343 million bush
els, are 15 percent lower than
June 1, 2000. Indicated disap
pearance for the March - May
2001 quarter totaled 696 million
bushels, up 12 percent from the
same quarter in 2000. All Wheat
Stocks Down 8%
All wheat stored in all posi
tions on June 1,2001 totaled 873
million bushels, down 8 percent
from a year ago. On-farm stocks
are estimated at 197 million
bushels, down 13 percent from
Iqst year. Off-farm stocks, at 676
million bushels, are down 7 per
cent from a year ago. The indi
cated March - May 2001
disappearance is 465 million
bushels, down slightly from the
same period a year earlier.
Durum wheat stocks in all po
sitions on June 1, 2001 totaled
45.2 million bushels, down 9
percent from a year ago. On
farm stocks, at 29.1 million
bushels, are down 4 percent

Barley Stocks Down 5%
Barley stocks in all positions
on June 1,2001 are estimated at
106 million bushels, down S per
cent from June 2000. On-farm
stocks are 28.9 million bushels,
14 percent above a year ago. Off
farm stocks are 77.4 million
bushels, 10 percent below June
2000. Indicated disappearance
during the March - May 2001
quarter totaled 55.9 million
bushels, down 5 percent from
the same period a year earlier.
Oats Down 4%
Oats stored in ail positions on
June 1,2001 totaled 72.6 million
bushels, 4 percent below the
stocks on June 1, 2000. Of the
total stocks on hand, 32.1 mil
lion bushels are stored on farm,
11 percent less than this time
last year. Off-farm stocks to
taled 40.6 million bushels, 1 per
cent above last year. Indicated
disappearance during the March
- May 2001 quarter totaled 37.3
million bushels, 45 percent more
than the same period a year ago
Grain Sorghum Down 41 %
Grain sorghum stored in all
positions on June 1,2001 totaled
74.6 million bushels, down 41
percent from a year ago. Off
farm stocks, at 57.1 million
bushels, are down 43 percent
from last year and account for
77 percent of the total stocks.
On-farm stocks, at 17.5 million
bushels, are down 36 percent
from last year. The March - May
2001 quarter disappearance
from all positions is 92.5 million
bushels, down 6 percent from
last year.

Ohio—Compared to last week’s market,
feeder steers were unevenly steady.
Feeder heifers were weak to 3.00 lower.
Demand is light to moderate. Trading
slow to moderate. Confirmed sales about
43% beef type steers, 20% Holsteins and
about 37% heifers. Confirmed sales 1200
this week; 1300 last week; 1200 a year
ago.
FEEDER STEERS: Medium and
Large 1-2:650-700 lbs 95.50 del; 750-800
