Compared to last week; Feeder steers
and heifers steady with good demand.
Stocker cattle and calves not well tested.
Conditions favorable to buyers, with
gaunt to average weigh-ups and mostly
medium flesh. Quality of supply average
with ample supply of fair to top quality
Brahma Cross. Percipitation during
month of May much improved from
early Spring with storms continuing this
week. Many areas of the state have
logged 3-6 inches of rain during the
month.
Slaughter cows steady to SO lower.
Slaughter bulls steady. Packer demand
fairly good for light numbers. Total of
120 cows and bulls sold with half to
packers. Receipts this week 4935; last
week 12,757; last year 2856.
Supply consisted of 87 percent year
lings over 600 lbs; 11 percent calves and
light yearlings under 600 lbs; 2 percent
cows and bulls.
Heifers comprised 37 percent of feeder
and calf supply.
Prices follow with weighted average
weight and price in parenthesis.
