Compared to last week: Feeder steers
and heifers 1.00-3.00 higher. Demand
good for feeder cattle. Stockers and
calves steady with good demand.
Demand for new crop calves much im
proved due to short supply of calves and
light Stockers. Storms late last week and
over the weekend provided 1 to 4 inches
of much needed moisture to pastures.
Conditions of feeders attractive to
buyers. Feeder cattle in mostly medium
flesh, with gaunt to average weigh-ups.
Few calves in medium to fleshy condi
tions. Quality mostly average. Slaughter
cows and bulls steady to SO higher.
Demand good from packers. Demand
moderate and improved for bred cows
and pairs. Cows and bulls totaled 495
head with 70 percent to packers.
Receipts this week 12,757; last week
14,791; last year 16,546. Supply con
sisted of 82 percent yearlings over 600
lbs; 14 percent calves and light yearlings
under 600 lbs; 4 percent cows and bulls.
Heifers comprised 35 percent of feeder
and calf supply.
Prices follow with weighted average
weight and price in parenthesis.
