The FCCP was designed to help each segment communicate, and efficiently produce a product that meets these consumer de mands. Backed by a USDA pro seedstock producer, the feedlot industry, and the packer, Con- Agra. In addition to opening the communication flow between the segments, producers will receive valuable selection and manage ment information as well as mar keting recommendations for fu ture calf crops. Individual carcass and feedlot information will also be obtained. Once pro ducers receive the information, Charolais Gene Net representa tives will be available to analyze the information and discuss the results with cattlemen. For cattlemen who aren’t in terested in retaining ownership through the feedlot stage of pro duction, Charolais Gene Net of- cess verified system for source and genetically identified cattle, the FCCP offers options for feed er or fed cattle that are “certi fied” as Red Angus. A great deal of effort has been dedicated to making the FCCP a leader in this arena, and signifi cant consideration has been given to selecting partners who share the same objectives, philos ophies, and concerns. With this goal in mind, Excel Corporation and the FCCP have partnered for close to three years. The emphasis is to provide pro ducers and feeders an avenue to market Certified Red Angus cat tle, get rewarded for value, and supply branded beef premium programs. In January, the Red Angus Marketing Agreement that Excel offers for tagged Red Angus cat tle was re-negotiated. This revi sion provides a considerable in crease in carcass value over the base price when compared to the previous Red Angus Marketing Agreement. Once the form is submitted, feeders can contact the producer directly to pur chase, partner or custom feed the calves. Morgan, CO; Dodge City, NE; and Schuyler, NE); • A minimum Choice/Select spread to help producers and feeders receive the reward they deserve for finishing the cattle to the optimum end point; • Several increased premium values for quality and cutability; and • A negotiated base price, or the respective USDA area weighted average prices week prior to harvest. Other purchasing options in clude Angus America, another prominent value-based pricing agreement that emphasizes pre miums for quality cattle, or on a basis contract through the futur es market. For producers who are not sure how their animals will perform at the carcass level, cattle can be purchased on a live cash basis or in the meat.
